Job Description – Civil / Structural Design Engineer (Consultant)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly competent Civil / Structural Design Engineer with 5–7 years of UAE consultancy experience to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis, design, and coordination of structural systems for a wide range of projects, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations, local authority requirements, and international design standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare structural analysis and design calculations for concrete, steel, and masonry structures.
• Design foundations, retaining walls, slabs, beams, columns, shear walls, and structural steel elements.
• Develop structural drawings, specifications, BOQs, and technical reports.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and other disciplines throughout the design process.
• Ensure designs comply with Abu Dhabi and Dubai Building Codes, municipality requirements, and international standards.
• Review and approve shop drawings, structural calculations, and material submittals submitted by contractors.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction.
• Participate in design review meetings and client presentations.
• Identify design conflicts and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Perform value engineering studies to optimize structural efficiency and project costs.
• Support authority submissions and obtain required approvals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is an advantage).
• 5–7 years of Structural Design experience within an Engineering Consultancy in the UAE.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Abu Dhabi Building Code
• Dubai Building Code
• Abu Dhabi Municipality Requirements
• Dubai Municipality Requirements
• International Building Code (IBC)
• ACI, AISC, BS, Eurocodes, and relevant international standards
• Experience in structural design for reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Proficiency in:
• AutoCAD
• Revit Structure
• ETABS
• SAFE
• SAP2000
• STAAD Pro (preferred)
• BIM Coordination
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to prepare detailed structural calculations and design reports.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
• UAE Driving License is preferred.
