Structural Engineer

Job Purpose

The Structural Engineer is responsible for the design review, supervision, and technical execution of all structural works to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with approved drawings, codes, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design Review & Technical Support

  • Review structural drawings, calculations, and shop drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international structural codes and standards.
  • Provide technical solutions to site-related structural issues.

Site Supervision & Execution

  • Supervise execution of structural works including foundations, concrete, steel structures, and formwork.
  • Ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
  • Monitor structural works to ensure quality and safety.

Coordination & Interface Management

  • Coordinate with civil, architectural, and MEP teams to resolve clashes.
  • Liaise with consultants and clients for approvals and inspections.
  • Support subcontractor coordination and technical clarification.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Ensure implementation of QA/QC procedures and approved ITPs.
  • Attend inspections, witness testing, and ensure NCRs are closed.
  • Verify material approvals related to structural works (concrete, rebar, steel).

Planning & Reporting

  • Support planning engineers by providing structural inputs for schedules.
  • Prepare technical reports, RFIs, and progress updates.
  • Assist in as-built drawings and project documentation.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure structural activities comply with HSE requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate structural risks during construction.
  • Promote safe execution methods on site.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • 5–8 years of experience in structural engineering within construction companies.
  • Strong experience in reinforced concrete and steel structures.
  • Experience in GCC projects is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of structural design codes (ACI, BS, Eurocode, etc.).
  • Proficiency in structural design and analysis tools (ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000).
  • Good understanding of construction methods and site practices.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

  • Structural works quality and compliance
  • Timely approval of shop drawings and RFIs
  • NCR reduction and closure rate
  • Structural safety and zero-failure incidents
  • Coordination efficiency with other disciplines
