Our customers are the people who build Texas and we're proud to help them get the job done. ROMCO EQUIPMENT COMPANY has supported the biggest names in the Texas construction and mining industries by filling their heavy equipment needs since 1961.

Job Purpose

The Structural Engineer plays a critical role in design, analysis, and evaluation of structural integrity of new and existing facilities within our aggregate and mining operations. This includes conveyor systems, batch plants, hoppers, bins, crushing equipment, and other plant infrastructure, and requires a strong focus on safety and efficient material handling. The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial design and is adept at managing complex projects from conceptual design through construction and commissioning. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety, stability, and reliability of structures in a demanding, heavy-industrial environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis - Perform structural design and analysis for plant equipment and infrastructure, including steel and concrete structures, foundations, conveyor supports, bins, hoppers, and processing equipment.
  • Inspections and assessments - Conduct regular site visits and inspections of existing structures to assess their condition and structural integrity. Provide recommendations for repairs, retrofits, or modifications.
  • Project management - Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously, including developing project scope, cost estimates, material specifications, and schedules.
  • Drafting and documentation - Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports using computer-aided design (CAD) software and structural analysis tools.
  • Code compliance and permitting - Ensure all designs and construction projects adhere to appropriate engineering design codes, safety standards, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaboration - Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and project managers, to develop effective and constructible solutions. Coordinate with external parties, such as vendors and contractors, as needed.
  • Problem-solving - Investigate structural issues or failures and provide engineering solutions to restore or enhance structural integrity.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Structural, Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Mining preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, ideally within industrial, aggregates, or heavy civil construction environments.
  • Prior experience in roles such as bridge design, plant infrastructure, or large-scale civil construction projects.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE, IBC) and permitting processes.
  • Experience conducting structural inspections and assessments in field settings.
  • Background in industries such as mining, aggregates, heavy manufacturing, or infrastructure development is highly desirable.
