The Department of Radiology Administrative Division is seeking a dependable and technically capable student to assist with IT support, hardware deployment, and end-user services. This position supports faculty, administrative staff, and research teams in a busy academic healthcare admin environment.
This role provides hands-on technical experience while developing professional communication and customer service skills in a real-world enterprise setting.
- Minimum commitment of 10 hours per week
- Must be available to work between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday
- Schedule coordinated around academic coursework
- Configure, image, and deploy workstations, laptops, peripherals, and accessories
- Assist with ordering and asset tracking of department hardware
- Provide on-site troubleshooting for hardware issues
- Provide software support and user training for administrative staff (MS Office knowledge preferred)
- Assist with inventory management and small internal databases
- Maintain and update internal departmental website content
- Assist with production and distribution of internal newsletters
- Support basic video and image editing projects
- Provide photography for departmental needs when required
- Deliver professional, responsive customer service to faculty and staff
- Develop scripts or small automation tools (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
- Assist with basic web development or database improvements
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
- Current University of Iowa student in good academic standing
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
- Professional communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Customer-service oriented mindset
- Major in Computer Science, Informatics, Engineering, or related field
- Experience with Windows workstation setup and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Basic scripting or programming experience
- Experience with website content management
- Real-world IT support experience in an academic healthcare environment
