Description:

This is a broadband position meaning the department will either hire for a Student Success Analyst I or II depending on the candidate's education and experience.

Designs, plans, and conducts institutional research to support the strategic decision making of senior administration and helps advance university goals through careful design and implementation of studies to answer empirical policy and planning questions. Applies advance knowledge of design in conducting complex institutional research studies in the department of Institutional Research. Uses research methodology and analysis, including problem definition, study design, data collection, and analysis.

1. Compiles and analyzes data for strategic planning and program development.
2. Assembles data sets from multiple institutional sources.
3. Designs models and conducts statistical and other quantitative data analysis.
4. Prepares descriptive and inferential statistics and analyses.
5. Consults and provides guidance on design, data collection, analyzing and reporting research studies.
6. Designs, develops and implements new survey research.
7. Coordinates with faculty and researchers on special reports, projects and analyses as requested. 8. Participates in focus groups and team projects.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

This position serves on the Student Success Research and Analysis team, which supports data-driven decision making in the areas of Undergraduate Student Success and Enrollment Services. The ideal candidate will have experience in social science research and the skills to create sophisticated dashboards.
The position will focus on the following competencies:
  • Querying data from institutional databases and merging large datasets
  • Managing data in Excel or another data management software.
  • Generating descriptive and inferential statistical analyses and creating summary reports.
  • Visualizing data in reports and interactive dashboards.

The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following
  • Experience in higher education
  • Strong service leadership skills, including mutual respect, active listening, and responsiveness
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education student success and/or strategic enrollment management.
  • Experience creating and maintaining dashboards in Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience writing queries in PeopleSoft (an Oracle database) or similar database.
  • Experience in predictive analytics modeling.
  • Experience in forecasting (e.g., enrollment, retention, graduation).
  • Experience with statistical analysis software and/or data visualization software

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

Student Success Analyst I-
Bachelor's Degree & 3 years of experience.
Min. $49,400-$56,200

Student Success Analyst II-
Bachelor's Degree & 5 years of experience.
Min. 56,800-64,600


  • Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.
