Studio Art Teacher, private school, Beacon Hill, 10 hrs/wk, $20-$30/hr

POSITION AVAILABLE: EXTENDED DAY ART TEACHER, ELEMENTARY, HALF TIME (20 HOURS/WEEK)

Torit Montessori School is an infant through sixth-grade independent school on Boston’s historic Beacon Hill. Our mission is to educate bright and capable students in the spirit of Dr. Maria Montessori’s groundbreaking methods, allowing students to explore materials, ideas, and applications at their own pace, with guidance, direction, and encouragement from teachers.

DESCRIPTION and REQUIREMENTS:We seek a dynamic art teacher for a small elementary program of 20 students. The successful candidate will have responsibility for developing a studio art program with dedicated space. In addition, the teacher will work in the extended day program with students ages 2-12, providing active supervision and engagement. All teachers are responsible for supervising the classroom environment, developing and delivering curriculum, establishing classroom routines, family communications, and record keeping. This position is not eligible for benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:● Prioritize the safety and well-being of all students● Lead an imaginative, engaging, and fun studio program for students ages 6-12 during the school day

● Provide supervision and support of students ages 2-12 in the Extended Day Program

● Define appropriate behavioral routines● Maintain professional communication with peers and families and exhibit a collegial demeanor● Ability to work collaboratively with faculty to enhance curriculum and community● Participate in and support special events/activities, including an art show

QUALIFICATIONS:● One to five years of art teaching experience with elementary-aged students

● One to five years of experience with toddlers and pre-schoolers

● AA required; BFA/BA/BS preferred
