Devon Preparatory School, a Catholic college preparatory school for young men in grades six through twelve, is seeking a full-time Learning Support Specialist to join our faculty for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual curricular support and executive function skills development to students with learning challenges due to learning disabilities, attention issues, social/emotional concerns, or weak organization and study skills.
  • Work in one-on-one and small-group settings with students to assist them in developing learning skills and strategies that allow them to succeed in a challenging academic program.
  • Collaborate to help implement and ensure reasonable accommodations are utilized.
  • Interpret psychological-educational testing to identify academic needs and implement accommodations to enhance academic success.
  • Have an excellent background in teaching writing and a passion for literature to be able to teach Middle School-Level Language Arts.
  • Assist with the application process for standardized test accommodations for college entrance exams for both ACT and College Board.
  • Communicate regularly with administrators, school counselors, and parents with regard to student progress and testing accommodations.

In addition, a candidate should process the following professional qualifications and personal qualities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or a related degree is required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Training in specialized programs such as reading specialists or language-based learning strategies
  • A dedicated commitment to professional development
  • A sense of humor, warmth of personality, and energy
  • Positive attitude, flexible approach
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills
