Sub Editor

Summary:

The Sub Editor will play a critical role in ensuring that all news content is factually accurate, grammatically correct, and presented in a clear, concise, and engaging manner. They edit and refine news stories, write headlines and sub-headlines, and maintain editorial standards before publishing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Edit news reports submitted by News agencies for clarity, grammar, accuracy, and coherence.
• Write compelling headlines and subheadings in line with editorial style.
• Verify facts and cross-check information with reporters and official sources.
• Proofread and polish news copy for publishing across Youtube and/or digital platforms.
• Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and editorial standards.
• Collaborate with senior editors for feature stories, investigative reports, or breaking news.
• Assist in curating and prioritizing content for web, app, or youtube.
• Monitor breaking news and make real-time editorial decisions.
• Maintain content consistency and newsroom workflow efficiency.

Requirements:

• Excellent command over Urdu
• Strong knowledge of current affairs – national and international.
• Sharp editing, proofreading, and rewriting skills.
• Ability to work quickly under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Attention to detail and journalistic accuracy.
• Proficiency with Inpage software.
• Good teamwork and communication abilities.
• 1 to 2 years of newsroom experience preferred.

Desirable Skills (Optional):

• Experience in digital news publishing.
• Understanding of SEO and social media trends.
• Ability to upload and manage news videos on YouTube.

Work Schedule:

Must be available during breaking news situations or editorial emergencies.
