Substance Abuse Counselor/ Social Worker

Overview
Join our dedicated team as a Substance Abuse Counselor and Social Worker, where you will play a vital role in guiding individuals through their recovery journey and supporting their mental health needs. Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate substance use, mental health status, and behavioral needs using diagnostic tools aligned with ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy to support recovery goals.
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction counseling, mental health counseling, child & family counseling, and crisis intervention.
  • Manage crisis situations effectively by implementing crisis management protocols and providing immediate support during behavioral health emergencies.
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless case management, home & community care, and hospital-based services while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations for medical documentation and records.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations for PTSD care, substance use disorders, and other behavioral health conditions using clinical counseling methods.
  • Collect data for research purposes and maintain accurate medical records utilizing CPT coding and ICD coding systems to support quality assurance and compliance efforts.

Requirements

  • Associates , Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid licensure or certification as a CADC, CRADC, LSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or equivalent credential.
  • Proven experience in addiction counseling, clinical counseling, or behavioral health settings with familiarity in medical terminology and patient care procedures.
  • Strong skills in psychotherapy modalities including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavior management strategies.
  • Experience working in hospital environments or home & community care settings is highly desirable.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations with professionalism while demonstrating excellent communication skills for intake processes and patient assessment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical documentation standards is essential. Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
