Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Use Disorder Counselor, you will play a critical role in helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve long-term recovery. Your expertise and support will make a positive impact on the lives of those struggling with substance abuse.
Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling and therapy sessions to individuals and groups, utilizing evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing and behavioral health techniques
- Assist patients in developing coping strategies and behavior management skills to prevent relapse
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation and coding for patient records
- Collect data on patient progress, treatment outcomes, and program effectiveness
- Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in substance abuse treatment
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of substance abuse counseling principles, techniques, and interventions
- Proficiency in motivational interviewing and behavioral health strategies
- Experience with group therapy facilitation
- Ability to develop individualized treatment plans
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport with clients and provide support during their recovery journey
- Attention to detail for accurate documentation and coding
Requirements:
- Associates, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field
- Valid licensure or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (LADC, CADC) preferred
- Experience working in a behavioral health or substance abuse treatment setting is highly desirable
