<Responsibilities>

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate substance use history, mental health status, and overall treatment needs using diagnostic tools aligned with assessment
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy techniques
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health support, and relapse prevention
  • Provide crisis intervention and manage behavioral health emergencies with professionalism and sensitivity
  • Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive case management, including home & community care services when appropriate
  • Educate patients and their families on addiction medicine, mental health issues, and available community resources to support ongoing recovery efforts

<Skills>

  • Proven experience in psychotherapy, addiction counseling, and clinical counseling practices
  • Strong proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to motivate behavioral change
  • Expertise in child & family counseling, crisis management, and trauma-informed care such as PTSD care
  • Familiarity with hospital settings, home & community care environments, and behavioral health programs
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical documentation standards, CPT coding for billing purposes, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), and medical records management
  • Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using standardized tools for mental health and substance use disorders
  • Skilled in group therapy facilitation, social work principles, behavior management strategies, and applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques
  • Competence in patient assessment, intake procedures, data collection for research purposes, and case management activities
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times
