Substation Automation Engineer

We are seeking a Substation Automation Engineer with hands-on experience in gateway replacement projects and strong knowledge of ABB and Siemens substation gateways. The role involves configuration, migration, testing, and commissioning of substation gateways, with specific exposure to Zenon SCADA software.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute gateway replacement projects in live substations with minimal downtime
• Configure, test, and commission ABB and Siemens substation gateways
• Migrate configurations, databases, and communication mappings from legacy gateways to new platforms
• Integrate gateways with Zenon SCADA systems
• Perform protocol configuration and troubleshooting (IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/104, Modbus, DNP3)
• Conduct FAT, SAT, and site commissioning activities
• Coordinate with utilities, OEMs, and internal engineering teams
• Support signal testing, real-time data validation, and alarm/event verification
• Prepare technical documentation, as-built drawings, and test reports

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Automation Engineering
• 2–3 years of relevant experience in substation automation
• Hands-on experience with ABB and Siemens gateways
• Working knowledge of Zenon SCADA software (configuration, drivers, licensing preferred)
• Good understanding of substation architectures and IED communication
• Ability to work independently at site and under utility safety procedures

Preferred : GCC utility substations exp

• Zenon certification or formal training
• Experience in gateway platforms such as ABB COM/RTU series, Siemens SICAM/RTU
• Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
