Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Testing
- Execute preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) schedules for High Tension (HT) and Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear panels (e.g., 11 kV,33 kV).
- Perform overhaul, cleaning, and necessary adjustments on critical components such as Circuit Breakers (VCBs/SF6), Load Break Switches (LBS), and protective relays.
- Conduct specialized diagnostic testing, including Insulation Resistance (Megger) tests, Contact Resistance tests, and Primary/Secondary Injection tests on relays.
- Perform routine maintenance on Ring Main Units (RMUs), including mechanical checks, SF6 gas pressure monitoring, and ensuring the functionality of earthing switches and interlocks.
- Assist with maintenance of substation equipment, including distribution transformers (oil level, temperature checks), battery banks, and capacitor banks.
Operations & Troubleshooting
- Respond promptly to electrical faults, troubleshoot system anomalies, and execute corrective actions to restore power supply safely and efficiently.
- Execute switching and isolation procedures as directed by the control room or supervising engineer, strictly following system safety rules.
- Read and interpret electrical single- line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, and wiring drawings for troubleshooting and maintenance planning.
- Conduct and document pre-commissioning checks for newly installed or repaired equipment.
Safety & Compliance
- Mandatory: Strictly implement all safety procedures, including LOTO, proper grounding techniques, and the use of authorized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out under a valid Work Permit system and comply with regulatory and company standards (e.g., NFPA, IEEE).
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, test reports, and equipment history in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or equivalent vocational training.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven hands-on experience in the maintenance and operations of electrical substations or large-scale industrial distribution networks.
- Certification: Possession of a relevant electrical license (e.g., Electrical Supervisory License, HV/MV Chargeman Certification, or equivalent competency certificate) is highly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated experience working directly with 11 kV or higher voltage switchgear (HT/MV Panels, RMUs).
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Expert knowledge of high-voltage electrical safety standards and working clearance limits.
- Proficiency in using electrical testing tools (Megger, Micro-Ohmmeter, Relay Test Sets, Clamp Meter, Thermal Camera).
- Strong mechanical aptitude for switchgear maintenance (racking in/out, mechanism alignment).
- Excellent ability to read and interpret complex electrical blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Clear communication and teamwork skills for coordinating maintenance activities with other departments and control center personnel.
Desired (Bonus) Qualifications
- Experience with specific maintenance practices related to K-Electric (KE) infrastructure.
- Knowledge of SCADA/Protection systems interfacing with substation equipment.
- Basic understanding of protection relay programming and settings.
