Job Title : Senior Site AC & EC Technician

Role summary
Senior on-site technician responsible for installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of Air-Conditioning (AC) and Electrical & Controls (EC) systems for construction projects. The role will lead and mentor junior technicians, ensure high workmanship quality, enforce site safety, and support timely handover of systems.
Key responsibilities
- Install, wire, test and commission AC systems including split units, package units, VRF/VRV, chillers (where applicable), AHUs/FCUs, condensers, pumps, ductwork connections and insulation as per drawings and manufacturer instructions.
- Install, terminate and test LV electrical systems: distribution boards, MCCs, motor starters, VFDs, lighting, power outlets, earthing and cable routing in trays/conduits.
- Install, wire and commission control devices and panels for AC/MEP systems (relays, contactors, thermostats, sensors, BMS/controls interfaces).
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and controls faults on AC and associated electrical systems; implement corrective actions to restore service quickly.
- Supervise, train and mentor junior AC and EC technicians; allocate daily tasks and inspect workmanship for compliance with specifications.
- Read and work from HVAC & electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics and approved shop drawings.
- Support client/consultant inspections and promptly address punch-list items during handover.
- Be available for overtime or off-hours work when required for commissioning or urgent breakdowns.
- Install, terminate and test LV electrical systems on site including distribution panels, DBs, motor starters, conduits, cable trays, lighting, power outlets and earthing systems.
- Install, wire and test control systems and devices (relays, contactors, PLC/controls interface where applicable), including cable routing, gland/termination work and tag labelling.
- Perform pre-commissioning and commissioning activities: continuity/insulation tests, megger tests, loop/earth impedance checks, motor trials, refrigerant charge verification, system balancing. and functional testing.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, BOQs and installation details; carry out work to drawings and approved shop drawings.
- Prepare and maintain site records: installation checklists, test reports, punch lists, material take-offs and handover documentation.
- Coordinate closely with site teams (mechanical, civil, procurement, QA/QC) and subcontractors to ensure timely materials, correct interfaces and smooth installation.
- Identify and report technical issues, propose corrective actions and support troubleshooting until resolution.
- Follow site safety procedures and toolbox talk requirements; ensure team compliance with PPE, permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out procedures and safe refrigerant handling procedures.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5 years hands-on site experience working with both AC (HVAC) and electrical/control systems on building/construction or industrial projects; demonstrable experience in installation and commissioning. Prior experience with construction-related electrical equipment is highly desirable.
- Education/Certification: DAE (Electrical / Mechanical / HVAC), ITI or equivalent trade qualification. Refrigerant handling/certification and electrical safety training are strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to read and interpret HVAC drawings, electrical single-line diagrams and wiring schematics.
- Experience with control wiring, starters, VFDs, BMS interface and basic PLC/BMS signals is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of refrigerant charging, vacuuming, leak testing and basic refrigeration diagnostics.
- Strong ability to read and work from electrical drawings, single-line diagrams and schematics.
- Practical skills with electrical testing & commissioning tools (megger, clamp meter, multimeter, continuity tester, insulation tester, refrigerant gauge, vacuum pump, leak detector).
- Experience with cable termination, gland installation, routing in cable trays, panel wiring and basic control wiring (contactors, relays, starters); PLC/controls exposure is an advantage.
- Proven ability to lead a small site team, manage tasks, and maintain high workmanship quality under deadlines.
- Knowledge of local electrical safety standards and best practices; commitment to safe working culture.
- Strong problem-solving, organisational and documentation skills.
- Committed to safe working practices and able to enforce safety with the team.
- Able to work full-time on site, sometimes outside normal hours when required for commissioning or urgent fixes.
- Basic English reading/writing for drawings and reports preferred.
- Valid local ID and willingness to travel to project sites across Karachi.

Pay: Rs35,000.00 - Rs45,000.00 per month
