Employment Dates:
Monday, May 18th, 2026, to Tuesday, September 1st, 2026

Compensation: $15 per hour

Average 25 hours per week, with additional hours available as needed.

Schedule:
Primarily weekday hours, with some evenings and weekends required depending on programming and student needs.

Position Overview

The Summer New Student Onboarding Ambassador plays an important role in helping incoming students successfully transition to MCLA. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative and dynamic environment while supporting several key campus offices, including:

New Student Programs & Family Engagement
Academic Advising & Support
Admissions (select responsibilities)

Students in this role will connect directly with incoming students and families, support the course registration process, assist with orientation programming, and help develop resources that ensure new students feel welcomed and prepared for their first semester at MCLA.

General Responsibilities

Provide general office support including data entry, mailings, filing, answering phones, and other administrative tasks.
Assist with front desk coverage and support staff as needed.
Support various summer onboarding initiatives and special projects.

Office Responsibilities

New Student Programs & Family Engagement

Engage with incoming students through the Online Orientation Canvas Course.
Assist with creating materials for new students including flyers, posters, guides, and digital resources.
Help design virtual engagement opportunities to connect incoming students with one another and the MCLA community.
Support summer communication and programming for new students and families.

Academic Advising & Support

Host virtual one-on-one meetings with incoming first-year students to assist with fall course registration.
Complete post-registration documentation following each advising session.
Attend training sessions and regular check-ins with advising staff.
Assist with the implementation and support of EAB Navigate, MCLA's student success platform.
Develop informational resources such as videos, guides, and tutorials to support student use of advising tools.
Assist with updates to MCLA Success Zone materials.

Office of Admission (Select Responsibilities)

Assist with Saturday campus tours (approximately one per month).
Represent MCLA to prospective students and families during tours.
Support outreach to prospective and accepted students through calls, emails, postcards, and social media engagement.
Assist with weekday tours as needed.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate the following:
Strong knowledge of MCLA programs, campus resources, and student life.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Comfort working both independently and collaboratively.
Experience with Microsoft Office and social media platforms (design or media experience is a plus).
Familiarity with Degree Works and the Core Curriculum is preferred.
Applicants must also be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the College.

Summer Housing:
Reduced-rate on-campus summer housing is available for students with campus employment through the Summer Student Housing Program .

Additional Information:
This position is open only to students currently enrolled at MCLA.
