Summer Camp Counselor

Meaningful Day Services is currently hiring Summer Camp Direct Support Professionals for their Children’s Summer Break Program.

Direct support professionals (DSPs) are people who work directly with individuals with all types of developmental disabilities with the aim of assisting the individual to become integrated into their community and work closely with clients to enhance their decision-making skills and encourage them to engage in more activities that will help strengthen their physical and mental health. Direct Support Professionals also help teach clients how to complete certain tasks on their own to promote a more independent and satisfying lifestyle.

Meaningful Day Services, Inc. (MDS) is an Indiana-based company that provides therapies, residential, and adult day supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Summer Camp DSPs will provide individualized programming and support for each child at a 1:1 staff to client ratio or in a small group setting with 1 staff to 3-4 clients. We have a daily schedule that clients follow to ensure that each child participates in a wide variety of curriculum. Some of our daily tasks include: social time, exercise, arts/crafts, academic skills, hygiene skills, vocational skills, safety awareness, and countless more. We also take field trips into our community 4-5 times per week.

Meaningful Day Services Summer Camp is a facility-based program for Children and Adolescents with disabilities providing services during school breaks (9a-5p).

We provide certification in CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration (Core A/B), and Handle with Care at no cost to employees as part of our onboarding process in addition to great job experience working with children with developmental disabilities. No previous experience required but applicants must be at least 18 years old.

There are many shifts available. Meaningful Days employs full time and part time individuals and works with student class schedules. Here are some of our current shift needs:

• Daytime shifts during summer camp; dates are June 2nd – July 31st
• Program hours are 9am-5pm but majority of shifts are 9am-3pm.
• Full and part time hours available.
• Flexible scheduling available
• Employees can continue to work for MDS after the Summer Camp if desired on a seasonal or year round basis.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18 years or older
• Valid driver's license
