Job Overview
Join our fun and exciting new summer camp team at Garden Oaks Baptist as a Summer Camp Counselor! Enjoy enriching the life of an elementary age student while leading them through our weekly camp adventure themes. In this role, you will have the opportunity to have a positive impact on the children, point them towards God while guiding campers through engaging activities such as: STEM science projects, Art, Outdoor time, gym games, music rotations, and more! All in a safe and inclusive environment. This paid full time summer position with shifts between the hours of 7am-6pm Monday - Friday, June 1st - August 7th.
Duties
- Lead and facilitate a variety of camp activities including sports, arts and crafts, bible lessons, and outdoor adventures to ensure an engaging experience for all participants. All lesson plans are done by our camp director and provided for our counselors. Counselors would just need to facilitate the planned activities with their group of children.
- Maintain a safe environment by supervising children closely, enforcing camp rules, and implementing proper behavior management techniques. All counselors will be required to pass an extensive background check and fingerprint check.
- Provide basic first aid when necessary, responding promptly to minor injuries or health concerns with professionalism and care. First AID and CPR certification will be provided to you prior to camp starting.
- Support children with special needs or those requiring additional assistance through tailored activities and compassionate guidance.
- Foster positive relationships with campers by encouraging teamwork, respect, and inclusivity in all interactions. Counselors are required to have patience and kindness towards children.
- Assist with daily camp routines such as check-in/check-out procedures, snack times, and setting up activity stations.
- Collaborate and remain professionalism with all other staff members, maintaining a family-like atmosphere amongst staff members.
- Counselors must be okay working in a church setting.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in settings such as daycare, babysitting, tutoring, or camp programs is highly desirable.
- Availability for full time hours Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm, June 1st - August 7th.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not already held.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members.
- Passion for working with youth in a fun, energetic environment that promotes learning through play.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with enthusiasm while maintaining a positive attitude.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
