Position Scope: The Summer Discovery Academic Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging academic instruction for rising 7th - 9th grade students participating in the ECN Summer Discovery Program. The instructor will be responsible for delivering the Lavinia RISE curriculum and associated lessons focused on math and language arts through project-based learning. The Academic Instructor will create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment while supporting the educational and developmental needs of students. This role will contribute to high-quality programming that promotes curiosity, creativity, and academic growth.
Position Responsibilities
● Deliver engaging academic enrichment lessons using the Lavinia RISE curriculum for middle school students.
● Adapt instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and developmental levels of students.
● Use student-centered teaching strategies that encourage participation and active learning
● Prepare lesson materials and maintain organized classroom spaces
● Monitor student attendance and engagement during program activities
● Work collaboratively with the Program Manager and other staff members to support program activities and schedules.
● Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and program planning when requested.
● Ensure the safety and proper supervision of students during all program activities
● Follow organizational policies and procedures related to youth protection and supervision
● Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns in accordance with program policies
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree or coursework in education, youth development, or a related field
● Current or former certified teacher or teacher candidate
● Ability to lead structured activities and manage groups of middle school students
● Experience working with youth in educational, tutoring, enrichment, or after-school settings
Required Certifications and Clearances Prior to the program starting on June 29, 2026.
● Background check clearance required
● CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
● Youth protection or mandatory reporter training

Pay: $58.00 per hour
