Partnership with NANA Regional Corporation: The mine operates on land owned by the NANA Regional Corporation, an Alaska Native corporation. Embracing Courageous Safety Leadership (CSL): At Teck, safety is a core value central to our work culture. Through programs like CSL, we empower every employee to be a safety leader, encouraging a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks. As part of our team, you’ll contribute to sustaining this safety-first environment, where speaking up and driving positive change are not just encouraged but expected.
The Superintendent, Community and Indigenous Relations is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing Red Dog’s Indigenous and community engagement strategy. Reporting to the Manager, Community and Public Relations, this position plays a critical role in fostering respectful, long-term partnerships with the Iñupiat communities of Northwest Alaska.
The Superintendent leads a team of community relations professionals, manages a significant departmental budget, and acts as the department’s second-in-command. A key focus of the role is building internal capacity by coaching and mentoring senior Iñupiat staff, with a strong emphasis on succession planning and long-term leadership development.
This role requires a deep understanding of Indigenous rights, stakeholder engagement, and the social dynamics of remote and culturally distinct regions. The successful candidate will navigate complex social environments to support sustainable project outcomes, uphold company commitments, and contribute to the operating stability of Red Dog Operations.
At Teck, we believe in creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every team member can thrive. Our Red Dog mine features modern facilities, including dedicated spaces for group and individual physical activities, weights, cardio equipment, movie rooms, theme nights, and modern accommodation complexes. To ensure a comfortable living and family-style working environment for all employees, we also provide all meals, making it easier for you to focus on your work and well-being.
We offer competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits program, including medical, dental, life, AD&D, and long-term disability insurance, paid sick leave, vacation days, and a 401k plan.
Diversity is a core value at Teck. Our teams work collaboratively, respecting each person’s unique perspective and contribution. We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
We appreciate all applicants’ interest and effort in applying for the position; however, only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
