Position Summary


The Environmental Services (EVS) Supervisor provides operational leadership for assigned areas to ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service. Responsibilities include scheduling staff, assigning and prioritizing work, approving time off, and overseeing daily operations. Conducts performance evaluations, coaches and counsels employees to support performance improvement, and administers corrective action when necessary. Holds strong recommendation authority regarding hiring and termination decisions and may assist with budgeting and resource management.

Uses sound judgment and discretion in managing staff interactions with patients, visitors, and internal partners. Serves as a key resource for frontline team members and may coordinate staff education and training. Monitors quality, productivity, morale, and service outcomes while promoting accountability, stewardship, employee engagement, and continuous improvement. Performs other duties as assigned in support of departmental and organizational objectives.

    • Standard Work Duties: Supervisor - Environmental Services
    • Using a collaborative leadership style, facilitates the achievement of department and hospital-wide quality, safety, satisfaction and stewardship goals. Monitors and tracks data/reports as identified by the department leadership.
    • Establish and annually reviews standards and work procedures for all Housekeeping staff in accordance with established policies and practices of the facility.
    • Oversees the orientation of new employees, assesses the ongoing competence of all employees and conducts performance appraisals.
    • Evaluating the performance of workers, rewarding high performers and counseling employees who fail to meet reasonable standards of work performance.
    • Plan work schedules, hours, areas of work and job duties to ensure adequate housekeeping services are rendered to all areas.
    • Responds to complaints, adverse situations, unplanned circumstances or problems to insure that work is completed efficiently, staffing needs are met, customer and staff satisfaction concerns are addressed appropriately and expected outcomes are achieved.
    • Maintain and support facility goals and objectives as they relate to third party patient survey process.
    • Schedule major project work, assuring that adequate staff and supplies are available to perform said tasks.
    • Trains and educates employees on the proper procedures to be utilized in the performance of their job responsibilities as documented by one to two instances per month.
    • Administers communication in a timely and consistent manner, ensuring a professional and respectful exchange of information and ideas as documented through Assistant or Director observations with one to two instances weekly.

    • Demonstrates responsible use of LRH's resources including people, finances, equipment and facilities.

    • Coaches front line team members to support ongoing professional development and hardwire technical and professional capabilities.

    • Manages team conflict/issues implementing appropriate corrective actions, improvement plans and regular performance evaluations.
    • Applies change management best practices and standard work to support departmental changes and ensure effective team transition.

Qualifications & Experience


Essential:

  • High School or Equivalent

Essential:

  • Must complete the LRH management training program within the first six months in role.
Other information:

Experience Essential:

*Previous supervisory experience. Supervisory experience in a healthcare setting .

*Three to five years of experience in professional/technical role requiring progressive increase in responsibility.
