DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM

Department Specific Functions

• 50% Prepares tissue specimens for microscopic examinations and handles the more complex jobs involving special staining. Examine slides under microscope to ensure tissue preparation meets laboratory and client requirements. Works closely with investigators and research staff to identify and perform requested specialized histology work.

• 20% determines the acceptability of testing results and instrument function. Maintains all equipment and places orders for reagents and materials. Troubleshoots equipment as needed.
• 10% Trains and monitors research technicians, histology students, and volunteers.
• 5% Performs monthly billing and organizes submission paperwork and related data entry to LIS. Prepares monthly procedure summary reports.
• 10% Performs all inventory and purchasing. Works with A/P in payment for supplies. Assists in the budgetary preparation.
• 5% Formulates and revises laboratory policies and procedures as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
