Job Description

  • JOB SUMMARY

    The Supervisor - Rehabilitation at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for overseeing a multi-disciplinary team of therapists, assistants, and technicians in delivering quality rehabilitation services. This role supervises staff, coordinates patient care, manages budgets, implements clinical programs, and ensures compliance with regulations. The role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Physical or Occupational Therapy, or a Masters in Speech and Language Pathology or Human Services/Administrative field, along with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. As a supervisor, this role oversees and guides a team of employees to ensure efficient task completion, promoting teamwork and effective coordination.

    JOB FUNCTIONS

    Supervisory:
  • Insure multi-disciplinary staff provides quality service and functional outcomes

  • Performs EXCEL process of individual clinical staff

  • Coordinates and provides orientation for all new personnel (discipline specific)

  • Assign committee responsibilities

  • Provides corrective action when appropriate

  • Participates in development of staffing plans, schedules, interviewing, and hiring of clinical staff

Clinical:
  • Provides patient care services as licensed and necessary

  • Insure staff maintains current licensures/annual review/competencies

  • Coordinates development of clinical competencies and clinical orientation guidelines

  • Budget:
  • In cooperation with Director, develops budget

  • Functions within the approved budget

  • Reviews, performs audits, and develops action plans related to clinical documentation, charging, coding, and daily analysis of clinical revenue

  • Recruitment:
  • Works with other managers, clinical coordinators, and Human Resources to develop and implement a recruitment plan and strategies

  • Operational:
  • Evaluates, reports, and implements programs to improve clinical outcomes through collaboration with medical director, nurse manager, and clinical staff

  • Coordinates and develops new and expanded clinical services and programs

  • Coordinates and implement process improvement initiatives

  • Regulation:
  • Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines

  • Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues to include TJC and Mississippi State Department of Health.

    Plan, organize and implement patient treatments

    Coordinate multi-discipline treatment schedules

    Participate in PI projects, committees and teams

    Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures, new and existing treatment protocols

    Coordinates, supervises, and evaluates clinical issues of Physical, Occupational, Speech Language Pathology, and support personnel.

    Leads staff meetings as appropriate

    Interacts frequently with the medical staff to establish policy and resolve conflict

    Negotiates equitable solutions in the area of continuing education, time off, and coverage to assist staff intervention

    Will have frequent contact with patients and family, visitors, both in person and by phone

    Must project a positive image of NMHS to recruitment sources and applicants, continuing education resources, and licensing board

    Frequent interaction with vendors

    Must demonstrate competency in treatment of Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics if incumbent holds a clinical degree where applicable

    Must demonstrate good evaluation skills as well as oral and written communication skills

    Knowledgeable in reimbursement
