Supervisor - TransportationPurpose Statement
The job of Supervisor - Transportation is for the purpose/s of supervising the transportation services for students within the district; planning services that ensure a safe and positive learning environment; and maintaining adequate staffing to ensure objectives are achieved.
Essential Functions- Analyzes transportation requirements for the purpose of determining immediate and long term transportation needs to ensure that students are safe, making recommendations, and maximizing use of available funds.
- Collaborates with other district personnel and outside vendors for the purpose of providing information necessary for making decisions regarding transportation requirements.
- Composes a variety of documents (e.g. reports, memos, letters, procedures, manuals, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
- Informs personnel regarding procedures for the purpose of providing necessary information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with established fiscal guidelines.
- Maintains a variety of information, files and records (e.g. route information, contracts, budget, inspections, disciplinary action memos, personnel records, etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
- Monitors transportation requirements for the purpose of ensuring that work is performed within required timeframes, at reasonable cost and in accordance with safe work practices.
- Prepares various reports (e.g. incident logs/reports, regular bus route, special school trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing guidance and /or recommendations to Administration.
- Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions (e.g. future equipment, personnel needs, etc.) for providing information and/or direction that ensures efficient operation of transportation services and regulatory compliance.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. (This could include standing for long periods in harsh environments)
- Supervises transportation activities and assigned personnel (e.g. schedules, evaluates, trains, recommends hiring, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring department functions are performed efficiently and in conformance with required safety and regulatory standards.
- The supervisor may drive routes when needed.
Other Functions- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Learning development involves the completion of a formal technical/vocational curriculum often resulting in a degree.

Physical Effort - Level 1 Minimal physical exertion is required. Most job time is spent sitting with occasional walking. Occasional lifting, guiding, and carrying of lightweight materials or equipment.
Social RequirementsHuman Relations Skill- Level B Job requires patience in communication and well-developed verbal skills to exchange technical or complex information with individuals or small, informal groups. Skills in establishing harmonious relationships and gaining cooperation are important.

Experience, Education, and CertificationsExperience: Job-related experience within the specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Certifications/Clearances: Annual Alcohol and Drug Test. Pre-employment Medical Exam. Must possess a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card while employed. Bus Driver’s Certificate Commercial Driver’s License, Class B with passenger and school bus endorsement. CPR Certificate. D & A reasonable suspicion Certificate
