Key Responsibilities:

This position requires strong technical expertise combined with effective interpersonal skills to provide guidance and leadership to both suppliers and internal stakeholders. The role focuses on timely resolution of supplier quality concerns and supporting a smooth transition of new products into mass production. The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will oversee full lifecycle supplier management for mass production, driving world-class supplier quality and safeguarding manufacturing operations through close collaboration with Manufacturing, Plant Quality, Material Planning, Logistics, NPI teams, and external suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Individual Contributor: Deliver supplier quality support by proactively addressing and resolving quality issues, ensuring the highest standards in EV production. Manage assigned mass production suppliers end-to-end, including supplier scorecards and performance evaluations.
  • Issue Resolution: Quickly identify, analyze, and resolve supplier-related quality issues to protect plant operations. Lead root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Manufacturing, Plant Quality, Material Planning, Logistics, NPI teams, and suppliers to develop and implement effective solutions that enhance plant operations and product quality.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Foster strong supplier relationships to ensure transparent communication and alignment on quality objectives.
  • New Product Support: Work with SIEs and Program teams during new product build events, ensuring a successful transition into mass production while upholding quality standards.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate the transfer of lessons learned across mass production programs.
  • Supplier Assessments: Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and site inspections. Develop and drive process improvement plans and track performance metrics.
  • Reporting: Provide clear visibility to senior leadership by preparing regular reports on SQE and supplier performance, OKRs/Goals/KPIs, risks, and improvement strategies.
  • Autonomy: Work independently and make informed decisions that support Lucid’s business objectives.
  • Travel: Ability to travel 25–75% domestically and internationally on short notice to Lucid Motors locations and supplier sites.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of plant-floor Supplier Quality Engineering experience in Interior Commodity components such as center consoles, door panels, hard trims, instrument panels, or soft trims.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or relevant technical field (Master’s preferred).

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Practical experience applying quality assurance methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone analysis to drive timely and effective issue resolution.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate quality concerns and corrective actions to internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics and technical drawings, with thorough knowledge of relevant quality standards and specifications.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, strong technical writing capabilities, and a comprehensive understanding of industry quality tools (IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, DOE, DFM/A, GD&T, etc.).
  • Preferred certifications include American Society for Quality credentials, Six Sigma Black Belt, or equivalent.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, a hands-on, data-driven approach, and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and adaptability within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Smartsheet, JMP, Minitab, JIRA, and Tableau is advantageous.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $58.00 per hour
