Supply Chain Buyer - Supply Chain

Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures, the Purchasing Agent is responsible for acquiring and maintaining an uninterrupted flow of materials and equipment that meet or exceed the value, quality and delivery requirements necessary for clinical acceptance. Researches product sources, identifies qualified vendors and submits product performance, specification and quality requirements to obtain pricing, quotes and other product information as requested by department directors, managers and associates. Negotiates pricing, discounts, delivery requirements and freight terms with vendors ensuring adherence to contract terms and conditions. Extracts and analyzes data necessary to prepare cost studies, usage history information and cost savings reports. Screens vendors for contact/visits and product evaluations with clinicians. Coordinates item recall activity between the Health System and vendors. Maintains the accuracy of the MMIS system to ensure data integrity.

Education: Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Accounting and one to two years’ experience as a Purchasing Agent or three to five years’ experience in a purchasing department is required. Previous experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred.

Licensure/ Certification: AHRMM, ISM or NAPM certification is preferred.

Experience: Must have personal computer experience and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with a Materials Management Information System is required.

Skills: Ability to work with a variety of departments and diverse stakeholders is required. Must be analytical, resourceful, detail-oriented, organized, quick and adaptable and possess strong communication and negotiation skills. Must be able to juggle competing demands and deal with interruptions.
