Role Description

Buyer maintains the demand forecast and executes day-to-day purchasing of materials to support the sales forecast, inventory plan, and production schedule. This role works closely with production scheduling, customer service, and engineering to balance cost, quality, and delivery requirements.

Key responsibilities

· Planning:

o Develop and maintain the forecast used to drive production and purchasing requirements.

o Develop and maintain customer forecasts; provide reports to customers as required by agreement.

o Establish and maintain internal kanbans for resupply of manufactured and purchased components to assembly lines.

· Purchasing:

o Plan and execute purchase orders for raw materials, components, and services.

o Create and manage purchase orders and receipt dates to maintain optimal inventory levels.

o Maintain subcontractor schedules and POs; coordinate priorities with internal operations.

o Partner with Strategic Sourcing specialists to address vendor-related issues, supply changes, and product additions.

· Inventory and logistics:

o Track open purchase orders and expedite them when necessary to ensure on-time delivery.

o Collaborate with delivery and warehouse teams to ensure timely receipt of goods.

o Create Receiving Receipts and maintain lot number traceability.

o Maintain visibility of receipt dates for inbound international shipments.

· Data and system management:

o Maintain accurate data and records within the ERP system, including item master data, lead times, planning parameters, and open/closed purchase and manufacturing orders.

o Monitor and report on supply chain performance metrics and cost savings.

o Communicate proactively about potential material availability issues.

Required skills and qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or a related field, or equivalent by combination of education and experience; ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification is helpful.

Experience: 3 or more years of experience in purchasing, planning, or inventory control in an industrial or manufacturing setting.

Technical skills:

o Proficiency in ERP systems and other business software, such as Microsoft 365.

o Knowledge of MRP and/or related tools.

o Strong analytical and data analysis skills.

Soft skills:

o Demonstrated ability to communicate in writing and orally, collaborate and interact professionally with all levels in an organization and with customers.

o Problem-solving abilities and strong organizational skills.

o Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
