Supply Chain Manager

The Supply Chain Manager plays a critical role in ensuring Hammerton’s operational success by overseeing sourcing, procurement, receiving, shipping, and material handling. This position is responsible for building efficient processes, driving cost savings, and developing a resilient supplier network that supports both day-to-day operations and long-term growth. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, excels at process improvement.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing & Purchasing

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that reduce cost, improve quality, and ensure reliable supply.
  • Identify, qualify, and manage a diverse supplier base to mitigate risk.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and build long-term supplier partnerships.

Process Development & Improvement

  • Establish and document supply chain policies, procedures, and metrics to improve consistency, efficiency, and transparency.
  • Lead cost control initiatives through process optimization, inventory management, and logistics improvements.
  • Implement KPIs to track supplier performance, cost savings, and team productivity.

Operations Leadership

  • Oversee receiving, material handling, and shipping to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality.
  • Partner with production and engineering teams to align material availability with production schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Team Management

  • Lead and mentor a small team across purchasing, receiving, shipping, and warehouse functions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and problem-solving.
  • Provide clear direction, measurable goals, and professional development opportunities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, or operations management.
  • Demonstrated success implementing supply chain processes and systems in a complex or custom manufacturing environment.

Qualifications:

  • Strong analystical skills with the ability to develop metrics, evaluate data, and make fact-based decisions.
  • Proven experience in cost reduction, supplier negotiations and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; experience managing small teams.
  • Hands-on, resourceful, and comfortable working in a fast-paced envrionment.

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires working on-site at our facility, overseeing various aspects of the supply chain.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • 50% of time spent in an office setting and 50% in warehouse setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
