JOB SUMMARY
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight and daily management of supply chain, logistics, inventory, and purchasing operations supporting multiple remote camps on the North Slope of Alaska and some urban job sites. This position ensures timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of food, equipment, materials, and operational supplies to remote job sites operating in challenging Arctic conditions.
This role has a strong focus on procurement strategy, purchasing policy development, vendor management, and cost containment initiatives. The Supply Chain Manager plays a critical role in maintaining uninterrupted camp operations, supporting food service, facilities maintenance, and remote workforce needs.
This is a full-time position with the option for either_ in-person or remote _schedule availability!
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5-8 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, procurement, or logistics; OR combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software.
- Strong knowledge of purchasing principles, procurement procedures, and inventory control systems.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Analytical mindset with strong financial acumen.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel periodically to remote North Slope camps, vendor locations, or corporate offices as needed.
- The position operates in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and may require extended hours during peak operational seasons, seasonal mobilizations, or logistical disruptions.
- Must be able to pass the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including drug screen, criminal background investigation, and post-offer physical/fitness for duty evaluation.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting remote or camp-based operations strongly preferred.
- Background in facilities management, food service, hospitality, or oilfield support environments.
- Experience operating in Alaska or other remote/Arctic environments preferred.
- Knowledge of purchasing principles, procurement procedures, and inventory control systems.
- Experience establishing purchasing policies and internal controls.
- Understanding of logistics coordination in remote or weather-sensitive environments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supply Chain & Logistics Management
- Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations for multiple remote camps, ensuring uninterrupted delivery of food, consumables, maintenance materials, and operational supplies.
- Coordinate logistics across multiple transportation modes (air, barge, truck, seasonal ice roads) to support North Slope operations (and urban job sites as needed).
- Develop contingency logistics plans to address weather delays, seasonal constraints, and remote site challenges.
- Monitor shipment tracking, receiving accuracy, and delivery performance to ensure compliance with order specifications.
- Maintain strong working relationships with freight carriers, consolidators, and logistics providers.
- Collaborate closely with camp managers, food service managers, and facilities teams to forecast demand and ensure supply continuity.
Purchasing & Procurement Leadership
- Develop, implement, and maintain purchasing policies and procedures to ensure compliance, efficiency, and cost control.
- Direct purchasing programs to ensure alignment with company operational goals and budget requirements.
- Establish procurement procedures to secure materials, food products, equipment, and services in a cost-effective and timely manner.
- Lead vendor sourcing, evaluation, contract negotiation, and performance management.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or service standards.
- Ensure competitive bidding processes where applicable.
- Maintain ethical purchasing standards and internal controls.
Inventory & Demand Planning
- Develop and manage inventory control systems for food, consumables, maintenance supplies, and capital equipment.
- Establish par levels and inventory forecasting models specific to remote camp operations.
- Conduct periodic inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Minimize waste, spoilage, and excess inventory while maintaining operational readiness.
- Implement tracking systems to monitor usage trends and cost drivers.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key vendors, distributors, and service providers.
- Negotiate pricing agreements, service level agreements (SLAs), and supply contracts.
- Monitor vendor performance and address service or quality deficiencies.
- Ensure suppliers meet regulatory and safety requirements applicable to Arctic and remote operations.
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Manage supply chain and purchasing budgets.
- Analyze cost trends, freight spend, and procurement data to identify savings opportunities.
- Provide regular reporting to executive leadership regarding inventory levels, purchasing performance, logistics metrics, and cost control initiatives.
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Maintain documentation and audit trails for procurement activities.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies for supply interruptions, weather-related delays, and vendor disruptions.
- Support food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance standards applicable to food service operations.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with operations, finance, culinary, and facilities leadership to align supply chain strategies with operational goals.
- Promote a culture of accountability, cost consciousness, and operational excellence.
