Description:

The Supply Partner Manager (SPM) is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with supply/vendor partners of IT hardware and software products and services with defense applications. The role plays a significant part in establishing, retaining and developing business partnerships so that the Company can grow and scale. These partnerships would be with OEMs of IT equipment as well as Value Added Resellers (VARs) which Darley then distributes to the federal government. The SPM seeks to gain detailed knowledge of the Supplier’s real value to the Customer, gets to know their people extremely well, serves as our communication conduit, helps to navigate occasional issues and most importantly coordinates selling efforts between our Sales team and the Supplier. The Supply Partner Manager reports to the Supply Partner Director.

Darley Defense, a division of the W.S. Darley company, specializes in using existing contracts to distribute products and services to the Federal Government. Darley Defense specializes in special operational equipment and fire and emergency services.

Requirements:
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing suppliers by conducting periodic supplier update meetings/calls and visits.
  • Maintain current supplier profiles and records in Salesforce that include: Supplier account page, Points of Contact, DOR forms, Meeting notes, Pricing information and Product spec sheets.
  • Ensure the Key Suppliers are updated and briefed on our contracts, personnel changes, company news and strategic trends in the industry.
  • Advise Sales and Business Development Teams on best Suppliers to use on opportunities and stays on the periphery of those deals until they close.
  • Look for and maximize margin potential by assisting / leading in the negotiation of terms.
  • Assess Sales Team driven deals (against the Company’s written Policy) that include pre-payments and recommend the best structure.
  • Educate and advise the Suppliers on Dealer of Record (DOR) programs and champion our dealer agreements.
  • Conduct site visits to our Top 50 Supplier Accounts and Third-Party Integrators (Kitting Companies) to ensure the business is operating as expected.
  • Pre-plan, schedule and conduct meetings with Suppliers at the many industry trade shows and conventions to ensure we stay front of mind in a competitive environment.
  • Develop and implement partner plans for the assigned Accounts out of the Top 25 Suppliers.
  • Understand, assess Supplier’s performance relating to contract compliance, quality, delivery, and other factors that determine Darley’s success as a government contractor. Where deviations are discovered, build options, escalate to management and assist in corrective action.
  • Onboard new Suppliers through an established process and assess / research any risk areas. If found, report to chain of command.
  • Participate in cross functional team initiatives that drive Supplier satisfaction (Marketing, Inside Sales, Outside Sales, Operations).
  • Generate and analyze monthly data reports that illustrate suppliers’ positions within the Defense and Darley landscape; provide frequent communication of data and analysis to other team members.
  • Work with Category Managers by looking for opportunities to elevate supplier statuses to strategic.

WORK ENVIRONEMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment and/or remote environment at both the Itasca and remote offices. This role routinely uses company standard office equipment such as computer and cell phones.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or as otherwise required.

TRAVEL

This position requires up to 30% travel.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a business discipline or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • 1-3 years supplier management experience
  • Government contracting or similar experience
  • A minimum of two years in a professional business role or similar
