Job Summary

This position will provide move and events support for the UT Tyler campus, including moving furniture, equipment, boxes, and other miscellaneous items. This position will also provide custodial and mail services support. Working indoors around campus. Frequently exposed to wet and humid conditions. This position is occasionally exposed to precarious places and in all types of weather conditions from the cold to extreme heat, as well as in a fluid environment.


Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

  • Move furniture, electronic equipment, boxes, and other miscellaneous items.
  • Complete set-ups/teardowns and support internal/external campus events.
  • Deliver and stock custodial closets as needed.
  • Respond to custodial related building emergencies.
  • Pick up recycling and trash in assigned areas.
  • Identifies, sorts, delivers, and picks up mail on campus.
  • Assist with processing all classes of mail for distribution. Other duties as assigned.


Required Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year experience in moving and events support.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.


Preferred Education / Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience in moving and events support in an educational setting.


Required Certifications/ Licenses

  • Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with university policy.

  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in written form.

  • Knowledge of safety precautions related to moving heavy items.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
