Surgery Scheduler

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Surgery Scheduler to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will coordinate surgical appointments, manage patient schedules, and ensure seamless communication between patients, surgeons, and clinical staff. Your expertise will help optimize operating room utilization, improve patient experience, and support efficient clinic operations. Duties

  • Schedule surgical procedures across multiple specialties, ensuring optimal use of operating rooms and resources
  • Confirm patient eligibility, insurance coverage, and verify insurance benefits through systems NextGen platforms
  • Coordinate pre-operative assessments and follow-up appointments with patients and clinical teams
  • Review and update medical records, documentation, and care plans to ensure accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding appointment details, preparation instructions, and post-surgical care instructions
  • Manage incoming calls using multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; document inquiries and responses accurately
  • Assist with insurance verification processes including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and billing procedures to facilitate smooth reimbursement processes

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in medical scheduling within a clinical or hospital setting; dental or surgical clinic experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of NextGen EMR system.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and insurance billing processes including Medicare requirements
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and health information management software
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment
  • Bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively
  • Prior experience with medical administrative support, front desk duties, or office management is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
