Surgical Navigation Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner

Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our surgical navigation service. The surgical navigation practitioner will work with staff members to assist and guide patients throughout their entire preoperative experience. They work closely with the surgeons, anesthesia team, nursing staff and other care team members to provide a positive experience for the patient.

Duties include but are not limited to:
· Perform thorough chart review on select moderate and high-risk surgeries and order preoperative testing when indicated

Refer patients for cardiac preop consults if indicated
Perform preoperative consults requested by surgeons
Support staff education
Review and update departmental policies
Communicate departmental updates with surgical practices
Coordinate patient care with preop and anesthesia and surgical practices
Participate in ongoing departmental and perioperative process improvement

Candidates must be certified and hold a current Maine Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant license or be immediately eligible for the same.
