POSITION SUMMARY
The Surgical Services Materials Management Specialist oversees the daily surgical supply operations, including inventory, procurement, and contract management in accordance with TCRHCC established standard operating procedures, whilst adhering to legal and regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for ordering specialty instrumentation, supplies, and equipment for patients while maintaining all the necessary paperwork to support the standard operating procedures of the department. Responsible for allograft tissue and documentation. Additionally, this position is responsible for the capital and supply operating budgets to meet annual budgetary goals.

Education:
High School diploma or GED
Experience:
One (1) year working in a healthcare setting with demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands while meeting deadlines.

Physical:
Incumbent must be able to stand, reach, and maintain balance for ¾ of workday; frequently will need to be able to walk, and twist; occasionally will need to sit, drive, bend, climb, kneel, and crouch. Incumbent will have to be able to lift, push and pull up to 25 to 50 pounds ¾ of day; must be able to lift to 10 to 24 pounds frequently; and up to over 24 pounds occasionally. Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist in the organization, and control of operations for ordering, shipping, and receiving functions for medical supplies; ensure proper handling and timely delivery of all supplies ordered and received.

Monitors incoming and outgoing medical supplies stocked within Surgical Services inventory. Organize space, medical supplies and expense(s) relevant to the surgical services department. Maintain daily records of shipments and invoices to see what products need to be replenished. Track inventory utilizing the inventory management software.
- Walk the Surgical services supply shelves, perform cycle counts, set and order to established par levels, check expirations and reviews and updates critical supply orders to include Medline and all others. Restocks as supplies arrive to include General Services and all others.

Places all orders in a timely manner to include implants, Medline, Tissue, and all others. Follow-up within 48hr of placing an order to include emailing and calling vendor. Notify OR/SPD leadership of status.

Manages the physical inventory counting, valuation, and analysis of year-to-year inconsistencies in Surgical Services, Oversees staff responsible for inventory and order cycle during the inventory process, while providing direction on correct procedures of inventory management

Maintains the patient supply/equipment requisition process.
- Maintains the Master Item Supply List for the department which includes updates with item description, Unit of Measure, price adjustments, vendor information and vendor catalog number. Maintains item locator list.
- Provides a leadership role in the management of projects that require cross-departmental cooperation. Coordinates between administrative team, internal departments, vendors, and sub-contractors ensuring exceptional communications at all times. Facilitates management of projects from inception to completion.
- Adheres to organizational wide and departmental policies and procedures in compliance with TCRHCC safety, OSHA, and other regulatory guidelines.

Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times while on duty including but not limited to, face mask, gloves, gown, isolation gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher, if available), and eye or face shield.
- Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. (see CDC website for most current updates)

Complete task training for all routine cleaning and decontamination processes for all surfaces contaminated by a communicable disease to ensure a high level of patient, visitor, employee, and external customer satisfaction.
