Duties

• Assist sushi chefs in preparing fresh ingredients, including slicing fish and vegetables with precise knife skills
• Support food preparation tasks such as rice cooking, fish filleting, and assembling sushi rolls
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety standards
• Organize and stock kitchen supplies, ensuring all ingredients are stored properly and within expiration dates
• Help with plating and presentation of sushi dishes to meet quality standards
• Follow all food handling procedures to ensure safe and hygienic meal preparation
• Support catering events or special menu preparations as needed to deliver excellent food service

Experience

• Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is preferred but not required; a willingness to learn is essential
• Experience working in a restaurant or food service environment, especially in fine dining or Japanese cuisine, is highly valued
• Familiarity with food preparation techniques, including knife skills and meal assembly, is beneficial
• Knowledge of food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures is important for maintaining hygiene standards
• Prior kitchen experience in the food industry or catering settings will help you excel in this role
• Strong interest in culinary arts, with an eagerness to learn about menu planning and sushi preparation techniques

Pay: $23.76 - $28.62 per hour
