Duties

• Greet guests promptly with a friendly smile and guide them through the sushi menu, highlighting specials and upselling options to enhance their experience
• Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS, ensuring timely delivery and proper food handling procedures
• Serve sushi and other Japanese dishes with precision, maintaining presentation standards and adhering to sanitation and food safety protocols
• Manage guest relations by providing attentive service, answering questions about ingredients or preparation methods, and accommodating special requests
• Assist with bussing tables and maintaining cleanliness in the dining area to ensure a pristine environment at all times
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate order timing, ensuring fresh delivery of sushi and accompaniments
• Support opening and closing duties including setup, sanitation, restocking supplies, and cash handling responsibilities like cashiering on OpenTable or similar platforms

Skills

• Proven experience in food service or restaurant environments, preferably with fine dining or sushi bar backgrounds
• Strong knowledge of POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS; familiarity with cashiering and basic math for accurate check processing
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport quickly and handle guest inquiries professionally
• Ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced setting while multitasking seamlessly during busy hours
• Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling techniques
• Experience with upselling techniques to increase sales while ensuring guest satisfaction
• Previous host/hostess or nightclub serving experience is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for hospitality is essential
