Position Summary

The Sustainability Engineer is responsible for driving the implementation of the sustainability strategy across construction projects. The role ensures environmentally responsible and resource-efficient construction while translating sustainability targets into practical site measures. Also, it acts as a key link between the sustainability strategy (MC-level) and its effective implementation across all projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement sustainability measures aligned with the sustainability strategy and actively drive change management on site.
• Translate sustainability targets into practical and actionable measures.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and project requirements.
• Coordinate with regulatory authorities for approvals and inspections.
• Ensure adherence to project environmental management plans (EMP).
• Monitor resource use (fuel, energy, water, materials) and environmental impact.
• Track carbon emissions and support implementation of reduction measures.
• Monitor environmental aspects such as air quality, noise, dust, and water discharge.
• Support waste reduction and recycling measures.
• Conduct environmental inspections and audits.
• Support sustainability KPI tracking and data collection.
• Prepare sustainability and environmental reports.
• Train site teams on environmental and sustainability practices.
• Promote sustainable construction methods across all project types.
• Support sustainability initiatives, pilot projects, and continuous improvement.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil Engineering or related field
• 4–8 years of experience in construction or environmental roles
• Strong understanding of site operations and practical implementation
• Experience in environmental compliance, monitoring, and reporting
• Basic understanding of sustainability and decarbonization
• Experience with data handling and reporting tools (Excel)
• Strong motivation and interest in sustainability topics
• Ability to work independently with a high level of ownership
• Team player with strong collaboration skills across departments and project teams
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence site behavior
• Hands-on, structured, and solution-oriented mindset
