ABOUT THE ROLE

As we continue to look for more sustainable ways to build, we need world-class talent to join our team. We are seeking a Sustainability intern for Summer 2026 who is passionate about sustainability, driven by curiosity and keen to grow, learn, develop and thrive in our high-performance culture. This opportunity will be a 10-week, paid internship beginning May 27th, 2026.


This internship will be based at our corporate headquarters in Chicago, IL.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage in meaningful, real-world projects that directly impact the company’s environmental goals and align with broader sustainability strategies.
  • Leverage a variety of technical and analytical skills to address challenges and contribute to the company’s environmental performance improvements.
  • Exhibit proactive problem-solving skills by independently completing assignments that promote sustainability and operational efficiency.
  • Learn and apply the methodologies for emissions monitoring, ensuring alignment with environmental standards and contributing to greenhouse gas reduction efforts.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of operational permits and compliance requirements, emphasizing environmental stewardship and sustainability.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Utilize a range of skills and knowledge in day-to-day operations, working collaboratively to achieve team and company goals.
  • At the end of your internship, you'll present your learnings and contributions to our executive leadership team.

  • Willing to spend time out in the field getting to know the business first hand.


SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT

  • This is an onsite role; the intern will be expected to be onsite Monday - Friday and work an 8-hour shift (40 hours per week is mandatory). A one-time $4,000 housing allowance will be offered to those we are eligible (must be relocating 50+ miles away from your home address).
  • In this internship position, you will be working in an office environment.
  • You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from your worksite for the summer.
  • Throughout the duration of your internship, you may be required to travel for site tours, shadow experiences, or intern events.
