The SWM Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing and supporting implementation of end-to-end Solid Waste Management infrastructure. The role requires strong technical expertise in landfill design, SWM DPR development, and Waste-to-Energy (WtE) systems including Bio methanation and Compressed Biogas (CBG).
Key Responsibilities
Lead
design and engineering of sanitary landfills, Waste-to-Energy (WtE), Biomethanation/CBG and Material Recovery Facility (MRF) plants. Prepare
Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and Feasibility Reports for city-level SWM projects covering technical, operational, and financial aspects. Conduct
field studies, data collection, surveys and stakeholder interactions with municipal/government agencies. Carry out
technical assessment of the existing SWM value chain including waste generation, segregation, collection, transport, treatment and disposal systems. Perform
data analysis and interpretation to support SWM design decisions and capacity computations. Provide
design support and review for process calculations, engineering drawings, sizing, layout planning and equipment selection. Assist in
preparation of bid documents, technical specifications, BOQ, cost estimates and tender evaluations. Prepare and present
technical reports and presentations to internal teams, clients and funding/external agencies.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
Proven experience in
sanitary landfill engineering and WtE/CBG/MRF project design. Strong familiarity with
national SWM rules, guidelines and sector benchmarks. Hands-on exposure to
DPR preparation for urban SWM projects. Proficiency in
data modelling, mass balance calculations and SWM planning tools. Excellent
technical writing, analytical and communication skills. Ability to independently manage tasks, meet deadlines and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
