PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for oversight, customer service leadership, and logistical coordination to support daily transportation activities, especially those involving special needs services. Ensures compliance with district policies and state regulations.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience
Required:

High school diploma or GED from a GaDOE approved and accredited institution
-
One (1) year of experience in school transportation.

Experience in transportation coordination and routing.
Preferred:
-
Associate’s degree from an accredited college/university in logistics or related field.
Licenses, Certifications, and other Requirements
Required:

Commercial Driver’s License or must be able to obtain within 120 days of employment with all appropriate/required endorsements for operating a school bus.

Valid Driver’s License.

Pre-employment and annual physical examination for CDL license holders.

Supervise customer service and dispatch support functions, ensuring timely and professional resolution of transportation concerns

Develop, implement, and monitor customer service protocols to ensure consistent and equitable service delivery

Communicate service delays, emergencies, and operational updates clearly and effectively to staff

Oversee the inventory management of special needs transportation equipment, including safety vests, child restraint systems, wheelchair securement equipment, and related items

Conduct routine audits, reconcile inventory discrepancies, and ensure equipment is sanitized, stored properly, and readily available

Monitor stock levels and proactively initiate re-orders to avoid shortages

Coordinate the issuance and return of specialized equipment to drivers and monitors

Compile, analyze, and report data from multiple sources to support operational decisions

Provide operational support to dispatch during emergencies, absences, or peak service times

Operate a school bus as needed to support departmental operations

Perform additional duties as required to support the overall effectiveness of the Transportation Department

This position is considered to be “essential personnel, critical staff” when there is an event that creates security challenges or disruptions to district operations. This position may be required to work during identified periods of an emergency as defined in Policy Regulation GBRB-R, Title: Professional Personnel Time Schedules.

Work Environment
Employees in this classification are normally exposed to a typical office environment but may be required to operate a school bus at times. The employee has some control over the length of time sitting, standing, or ambulating. There are occasions that require the lifting or pulling of equipment or supplies, as well as bending, stooping, or stretching. There is frequent use of computers, telephones, and other standard office equipment, which includes reading, listening, writing, or speaking. There are few exceptional physical or sensory demands.
