Job Summary:

The Systems Administrator IV is a principal-level engineer responsible for architecting, implementing, and managing large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments with a primary focus on Microsoft Domain Services. This includes advanced expertise in Active Directory (AD), Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft Cloud and hybrid integrations (Azure AD, Entra ID). The role requires extensive experience designing secure, scalable, and resilient domain architectures supporting thousands of users and systems. The Systems Administrator IV will serve as the top-tier technical authority, providing mentorship, direction, and governance for the organization’s Microsoft ecosystem.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Architect, design, and maintain enterprise-level Microsoft Active Directory environments, including forest/domain structures, trusts, replication topology, and identity synchronization with Azure AD/Entra ID.

Lead Group Policy design and lifecycle management, implementing security baselines and automation for configuration consistency.

Manage and optimize DNS and DHCP infrastructure across multiple sites and domains to ensure high availability, redundancy, and security.

Develop and maintain enterprise-level identity and access management (IAM) strategies, integrating SSO, MFA, and Conditional Access policies.

Oversee advanced domain migrations, consolidations, and upgrades, including hybrid and cloud identity projects.

Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and Azure infrastructure environments, ensuring secure and reliable operation.

Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with best practices, including auditing, least privilege, and role-based access controls (RBAC).

Utilize PowerShell scripting and automation frameworks to streamline administration, reporting, and configuration enforcement.

Provide tier IV escalation support for domain-related incidents and performance optimization.

Mentor and provide technical direction to Systems Administrators I–III and IT project teams.

Develop comprehensive documentation, runbooks, and policy guidelines for enterprise systems.

Partner with leadership to evaluate emerging Microsoft technologies, propose improvements, and lead implementation initiatives aligned with business goals.

Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.

Twelve (12+) years of progressive systems administration experience with at least seven (7+) years focused on Microsoft domain and identity services in large enterprise environments.

Required Microsoft Certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: Active Directory and Identity Management (MCSE or equivalent legacy certification acceptable)

Expert-level understanding of Active Directory architecture, replication, and security; Group Policy design; DNS, DHCP, and name resolution architecture; Windows Server (2016/2019/2022); Azure AD / Entra ID and hybrid identity synchronization.

Strong background in PowerShell scripting and infrastructure automation.

Demonstrated experience leading enterprise domain projects, including forest restructuring, migration, and modernization.

Familiarity with PKI, ADFS, Azure AD Connect, Intune, and MDM policies.

Deep understanding of ITIL processes, change management, and cybersecurity compliance frameworks (HIPAA, NIST, SOC 2, etc.).

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $59.00 - $60.00 per hour
