Actual pay will be based on various factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, proficiency for the role, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, Kwik Trip gives 40% of pre-tax profits back to our coworkers with bonuses ranging from 8-12% of each coworker’s gross annual wage depending on company profitability and offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401k, paid time off, and more.

Kwik Trip’s IT Department has an opening for a System Engineer – Virtualization & Storage.
Location: La Crosse Support Center | Hybrid (Minimum 50% Onsite)

What you’ll be doing…

As a System Engineer, you will work independently and collaboratively to provide operational support for Kwik Trip’s virtualization and storage infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise virtualization platforms and storage systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, administer, and support enterprise virtualization platforms and hyperconverged infrastructure
• Install, maintain, and optimize virtual environments and enterprise storage systems
• Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, conversions, and implementations of virtualization and storage solutions
• Provide second-level support for escalated incidents related to virtual infrastructure and storage
• Monitor performance, capacity, and availability of virtual workloads and storage systems
• Conduct research to identify solutions that support business initiatives
• Utilize ITIL-based tools for incident, problem, and change management
• Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures across virtual and storage environments
• Investigate and resolve virtualization and storage-related issues

You’ll need to have…

• Associate degree in Information Systems, Network Systems Administration, or equivalent experience
• Experience with enterprise virtualization platforms and hyperconverged infrastructure
• Experience with centralized storage systems (block and file-level)
• Strong understanding of virtual networking, resource allocation, and performance tuning
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems in virtual environments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to meet project and department deadlines

Even better if you have…

• Experience with Linux server operating systems in virtual environments
• Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible or PowerCLI
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtualized environments
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with incident management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira)
• Exposure to hybrid cloud integration and storage tiering

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, daytime hours with rotating on-call responsibilities. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 50% onsite presence at our La Crosse Support Center.
