The Systems Engineer Manager – TDC East is responsible for leading the engineering function that supports infrastructure, staging environments, and enterprise technology deployments within the Technology Deployment Center (TDC) East. This role provides technical leadership, people management, and process ownership to ensure reliable, scalable, and repeatable deployment of enterprise technology across retail, supply chain, and corporate environments.
This position is based on‑site at TDC East in Kennesaw, GA and partners closely with TDC Operations, Project Deployment, and enterprise engineering teams.

Lead and manage the Systems Engineering team supporting TDC East infrastructure and staging environments

Own the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of systems used for device staging, imaging, configuration, and validation

Ensure system stability and performance for servers, network equipment, and supporting platforms used in TDC operations

Partner with enterprise engineering, network, EUC, and security teams to test, validate, and deploy new technologies and processes

Manage enterprise project deployments teams

Drive standardization of systems engineering processes, SOPs, and deployment models

Identify and implement opportunities for automation, tooling improvements, and enhanced reporting

Support disaster recovery preparedness through system validation and pre‑staged infrastructure

Provide coaching, development, and performance management for Systems Engineers

Communicate technical concepts, risks, and operational status to leadership and business partners

Participate in planning, roadmap development, and continuous improvement initiatives
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

Typically reports to the Systems Engineer Sr. Manager, Technology Director or Sr. Director.
Travel Requirements:

Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Proficiency in working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional, modern engineering team

Professional experience in two of the following areas: Infrastructure Engineering, Network Engineering, Database Engineering, or Security Engineering; understanding of the remaining disciplines

Proficiency in guiding more junior team members through systems engineering fundamentals in a professional setting

Experience managing and growing team members in a professional setting

Experience balancing workloads across teams

Experience managing vendor relationships

Proficiency in infrastructure, network, database, or security troubleshooting and remediation; experience with at least one other

Experience installing and upgrading applications or databases and performing system maintenance

Experience with networking, system and hardware design and architecture, DBMS concepts, SQL programming, and client server concepts

Experience with system and environment analysis, design, and optimization

Experience with object oriented programming languages (preferably Java), distributed computing environments, and code reviews

Experience with system security design and management

Experience with disaster recovery planning and engineering

Experience monitoring the operational status and performance of, and configuring as well as tuning, systems, networks, or databases

Experience with operating system commands and utilities as well as scripting

Experience working with cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure

Proficiency in supporting a 24x7 retail operation
