General Purpose:
The Systems Manager reports to the Technical Operations Director and is responsible for the day-to-day management and strategic oversight of all IT infrastructure operations including networks, servers, storage, virtualization, cloud platforms, data centers, and end-user computing environments across all firm locations. This position ensures the stability, security, and scalability of Holland & Hart's technology infrastructure while leading a team of systems engineers and administrators and driving automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and scalability.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manages and leads a team of systems engineers responsible for network, server, storage, virtualization, cloud, and end-user computing infrastructure across 13 regional offices and firm data centers.
- Develops and implements tactical infrastructure plans that align with the firm's strategic technology roadmap and ensures high availability of all systems.
- Oversees the engineering, implementation, and maintenance of on-premise and cloud infrastructure including network, storage, compute, IaaS, and PaaS.
- Manages vendor relationships and service contracts for infrastructure hardware and software
- Leads infrastructure automation, DevOps practices, and infrastructure-as-code methodologies to reduce manual processes, improve deployment consistency, and enable rapid scaling across all environments.
- Provides management oversight and resource allocation for end-user computing operations, ensuring strategic alignment with overall infrastructure roadmap.
- Coordinates with the Technical Support team to ensure seamless resolution of infrastructure-related incidents and proper escalation procedures.
- Maintains comprehensive metrics on infrastructure performance including uptime, capacity utilization, incident response times, and asset management.
- Develops and maintains automated procedures and infrastructure-as-code templates governing the operation and maintenance of network systems, including hardware, backup, disaster recovery, wireless, and BYOD policies.
- Works closely with the Security Manager to ensure timely application of security patches and that all infrastructure implementations follow security best practices.
- Participates in budget development for infrastructure hardware, software, and services, managing expenses within approved allocations.
- Provides technical expertise and guidance to the Technical Operations Director on infrastructure strategy, capacity planning, and technology roadmaps.
- Ensures compliance with all IT policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines across the infrastructure team.
- Travel to other offices as required for infrastructure projects and onsite support.
- Perform additional duties and tasks assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to supporting the firm’s overall objectives.

- With the assistance of HR and the department head, manage employee discipline and, when necessary, termination in accordance with company policy and legal guidelines.
Job Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certification):
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other technology field; or the equivalent in education and experience.
- Eight (8) years of IT infrastructure experience including networking, server administration, storage, and cloud technologies, or relevant experience.
- Three (3) years’ experience in a technical leadership role managing people.
- Experience managing infrastructure in a professional services or legal environment preferred.
- Cisco, VMware, Microsoft Azure, AWS, Terraform, Ansible, or other infrastructure automation certifications strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage and develop technical teams while maintaining hands-on technical expertise.
- Strong project management skills with experience leading infrastructure implementations and migrations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic planning with tactical execution in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:
Holland & Hart offers of employment take into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location, external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. A discretionary bonus may be available based upon performance. The Colorado salary range is $113,924 - $189,874 annually. A discretionary bonus may be available based upon performance.
