Table Top Fabricator

Position: Part-Time Table Top Fabricator

Organization: Philadelphia Table Company

Location: Gloucester City, NJ

Reports To: Operations Director, Foreperson

Hours: Monday-Thursday 12pm-5pm

Compensation: $20/hour

About Us:

Philadelphia Table Company is a boutique woodworking studio that specializes in custom furniture, millwork, and interior design in both residential and commercial spaces. The work we do is rooted in an uncompromising commitment to quality, where design, craftsmanship, and execution come together to create exceptional furnishings. Our approach to creating heirloom furniture prioritizes quality, precision, and attention to detail over speed, resulting in pieces that are built to last and tailored to the unique needs of each client. Everything that leaves our shop is a testament to the skill and dedication of our craftspeople.

About the Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic part-time table top fabricator to join our team. You will be based out of our workshop in Gloucester City, NJ, working alongside a collective of craftspeople who are dedicated to building custom furniture for our clients across the country.

You will be responsible for transforming raw materials into high-quality table tops that are ready to move into fabrication and finishing. You will mill the lumber, glue up panels, and complete all initial sanding before handing completed panels over to the fabrication team . You’ll have a hand in creating every piece of furniture that leaves our shop from the very beginning, making decisions about board placement, epoxy fills, and domino positions.

The right fit for this role isn’t necessarily a woodworker, but rather a reliable and efficient team player who is eager to learn. This is an entry level position with enormous potential to grow within the company and in your skills as a maker. If and when all panels in the production queue have been completed, you’ll have the opportunity to get more involved in fabrication and finishing.

Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate table tops and panels for projects before they move into fabrication.
  • Reference shop drawings and make educated decisions about board placement, epoxy fills, and domino / biscuit positioning.
  • Mill lumber into dimensional boards for panel glue ups.
  • Glue up, sand, and label all panels once complete.
  • Maintain a record of hours spent on each project.
  • Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and machinery with caution and care.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
  • Manage time efficiently to meet deadlines without compromising craftsmanship.
  • Flag any issues that arise with the foreman, working quickly to resolve them.
  • Work independently to complete assigned projects with minimal oversight.
  • Assist in the delivery and on-site assembly of custom furniture as needed.
  • Perform general shop duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of professional experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Ability to lift, bend, crouch, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
