The YMCA of the North is seeking a Temporary (to hire) Talent Acquisition & HR Business Partner to step into a high-impact role at the center of how we attract, hire, and support our people. This temp-to-hire opportunity blends full-cycle recruiting with hands-on HR partnership—working closely with leaders to build strong teams, enhance the hiring experience, and support day-to-day People & Culture needs across the organization.

The salary range for this position is at $55,000-$72,000 annual. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.


1. Job Summary:

The Temporary Talent Acquisition & Business Partner provides hands-on support for talent acquisition and People & Culture operations during a period of increased hiring activity and team member leaves. This role focuses on executing efficient, accurate hiring and onboarding processes while providing responsive HR support to leaders and team members.

2. Essential Functions

Talent Acquisition & Hiring Support

  • Manage the full recruitment life-cycle including job postings and candidate coordination.
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure requisitions are accurate.
  • Monitor candidate pipelines and ensure timely progress.
  • Troubleshoot hiring and onboarding issues in systems such as UKG.
  • Ensure pre-employment requirements, including I-9 and background checks, are completed.

Essential Functions - Onboarding & Process Support

  • Support onboarding readiness and completion of required steps.
  • Ensure clear communication with new hires.
  • Maintain documentation and improve onboarding processes.

Essential Functions - People & Culture Business Partner Support

  • Provide day-to-day HR support to leaders.
  • Assist with performance concerns and employee relations.
  • Escalate complex issues appropriately.

3. Relationships

This position reports to the Vice President of People and Culture, who reports to the Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer. The incumbent collaborates regularly with applicants, leaders and team members across all programs and locations.


4. Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, industrial relations, or related field; demonstrated experience may be considered of lieu of degree.
  • Minimum three (2) years of talent acquisition experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide objective feedback.
  • Curiosity and comfort leveraging AI-enabled tools and data insights to improve decision-making and operational effectiveness.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, projects and tasks with same or similar deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including word, outlook and excel.

Preferred:

  • Bi/multilingual.
  • Nonprofit experience.
  • Training facilitation experience.
  • PHR certification.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (UKG) and HR metrics.

5. Work Conditions

  • Ability to travel to various branches and locations regularly.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and communicate via phone and email.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to respond to emergency requests as needed
  • Ability to participate in the afterhours on-call rotation for hotline support.
