Grand St. Settlement is a 110-year-old non-profit organization planning our legacy for the next 100 years. We have provided social services to low-income New Yorkers since our founding in 1916. We are now a $60M-a-year organization and are looking for a temporary Talent Acquisition Associate to assist while a member of the team is away on a leave of absence. This position qualifies for a temp-to-hire role, depending on agency needs and funding availability.


JOB SUMMARY

The Talent Acquisition Associate is a temporary position that will assist the Human Resources department in carrying out various programs and procedures for all Grand Street Settlement employees, which may include sourcing and screening resumes, conducting interviews, handling onboarding processes and conducting a new hire orientation, managing communication, responding to employee requests and questions, maintaining ATS and HRIS databases and personnel files, and compliance and internal controls. This critical support position will supply services and solutions to support the people, processes, and technologies within the Human Resources talent acquisition and onboarding areas. As part of our people team, you’ll help us attract, hire, and retain the top talent we need to achieve our vision.

Procurement & Accounts Payable
  • Utilize multiple avenues to find the best talent, including job boards, social media, hiring events, networking (job resource centers), etc.
  • Collaborate with program leaders to develop job descriptions and job postings
  • Maintain and develop a pipeline of eligible candidates for future open entry-level positions
  • Coordinate, facilitate and conduct new hire orientation, ensuring new hires are onboarded successfully; assist with entering new hires into HRIS, generate GSS ID, create personnel files, and scan documents
  • Maintain an active and visible in-office HR presence to assist employees with questions or concerns; sort HR mail and scan items as needed.
  • Assist, set up, and attend job fairs and other talent acquisition activities
  • Develop tracking systems to monitor and maintain candidate database and recruitment records; prepare monthly/annual reports as needed
  • Provide regular updates to hiring managers and HR on recruitment status, including contributions to monthly HR Ad-Hoc and Early Childhood Board Reports
  • Source, screen, interview and assist with onboarding of qualified candidates to fulfill varying level roles in multiple departments internally
  • Create, compile, or design services and events that communicate organization’s information and services aligned by mission; builds and manages employer branding and visibility to external candidates
  • Track and follow-up with sign-on and retention bonuses for eligible employees
  • Keep record of referral bonuses for eligible staff
  • Send monthly vacancies to NYC Human Resources Administration Business Link, Hire NYC, to remain in compliance with the Hire NYC: Human Services hiring mandate
  • Implement recruitment processes related to the recruitment cycle, vacancy announcement, screening, coordinating interviews, conducting reference checks and informing employees of their hiring status
  • Support the onboarding process for new hires, transfers, and temporary staff
  • Conduct a review of employee documents and ensure all required clearances are met in accordance with funder and agency requirements
  • Assist with performing employee background checks, including but not limited to: Fingerprinting appointments, Statewide Central Registry Checks, Sex Offender Registry Checks, SEL, Streamline Verify, and SSN
  • Familiarity with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) language for multiple unions
  • All other duties and special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in talent acquisition
  • Strong analytical and communication (both oral and written) skills
  • Strong understanding of recruitment processes and applicant tracking systems (ATS)
  • Proficient hands-on experience with computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google Suite, ADP Workforce Now, and other related Human Resources Information System (HRIS) management
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to successfully navigate a fast-paced environment, prioritizing, multitasking, and managing time efficiently
  • Experience in high-volume recruiting
  • Familiarity with labor legislation and equal opportunity best practices
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail


If selected for this position, you must obtain NYC Dept. of Health fingerprint clearance and State Central Registry (SCR) clearance (fees may apply) and maintain both throughout the duration of employment.
