Tax Accountant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our team and drive excellence in tax compliance, planning, and reporting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse financial concepts, regulatory frameworks, and accounting standards. As a Tax Accountant, you will play a vital part in ensuring accurate tax filings, supporting strategic tax initiatives, and maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Your expertise will help optimize our financial operations while adhering to best practices in accounting and taxation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current regulations.
  • Conduct detailed tax research on complex issues such as estate planning, securities law, and non-profit accounting to support strategic decision-making.
  • Assist with tax planning initiatives including mergers & acquisitions, asset management, and private equity transactions to optimize tax liabilities.
  • Perform account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger accounting to maintain precise financial records.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements by preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other standards.
  • Analyze financial data using various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other financial software tools to generate insightful reports.
  • Collaborate on internal audits related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance and ensure adherence to internal controls.
  • Contribute to financial report writing and interpretation for management review and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and account analysis to support operational efficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws including LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), wills, trusts & estate law, and securities law to ensure ongoing compliance.

Experience

  • Proven experience in tax accounting or public accounting with a strong foundation in corporate accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in tax experience related to estate planning, Wills & trusts law, Mergers & acquisitions, and regulatory reporting.
  • Familiarity with accounting standards such as GAAP and technical accounting practices including double entry bookkeeping and payroll processing.
  • Proficiency in using various accounting software platforms including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other financial software tools for bookkeeping and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
  • Experience working within non-profit or financial services sectors is a plus.
  • Excellent understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, account reconciliation, asset management, and balance sheet reconciliation.

Pay: $88,457.48 - $182,443.41 per year
