<Job Summary>
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing complex tax processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing strategic insights related to tax planning and reporting. <Responsibilities>
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Conduct detailed tax research on issues such as estate planning, securities law, and non-profit accounting to inform strategic decision-making.
- Assist with financial statement preparation and analysis, including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting.
- Support audits by providing documentation, explanations, and analysis related to tax positions and financial records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on mergers & acquisitions, corporate accounting projects, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance standards.
- Utilize accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms for bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and financial analysis.
- Perform account analysis and account reconciliation to ensure accuracy in financial reports and statements.
- Assist in budgeting processes, financial planning, and asset management initiatives.
- Support payroll processing and accounts payable functions as needed within the finance department.

- Strong understanding of tax experience including corporate taxation, tax accounting, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or equivalent tools for bookkeeping and financial management.
- Knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger accounting.
- Familiarity with estate planning strategies like wills, trusts & estate law; LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit); private equity; securities law; mergers & acquisitions; non-profit accounting; asset management; investment; financial services; payroll; budgeting; asset management; financial planning; public accounting; auditing; regulatory reporting; analysis skills; account reconciliation; financial report writing & interpretation.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
- Strong attention to detail combined with effective communication skills for clear report writing and presentation of findings.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing regulations and maintain compliance standards such as SOX requirements.
