Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Tax Associate to join our growing team. This is a long-term opportunity for a professional looking to develop within a firm that values consistency, growth, and efficiency. This role will start at 16 hours per week, with a clear path to increase to as much as 40 hours per week as responsibilities expand and performance is demonstrated.

In this position, you will organize workpapers, prepare tax returns, and perform a cursory review to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will also support strategic tax planning initiatives. Client interaction will be minimal, allowing for focused, high-quality production work during tax season, with a focus on continuing education and more complex tax returns during the off-season.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review mostly federal individual tax returns, including accompanying schedules and worksheets, ensuring accuracy.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of client-provided documents, tax forms and schedules to summarize and incorporate into tax workpapers.
  • Collaborate with inner-office teams on tax projects involving reviewing, amending or finalizing tax returns.
  • Stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations affecting federal taxation and general accounting practices to provide proactive guidance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in tax preparation or tax accounting within public accounting or corporate environments.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP standards, financial and federal tax concepts, double-entry bookkeeping, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software such as Drake Tax, ProConnect, Lacerte, UltraTax, CCH Axcess, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of TaxDome practice management software is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills for team collaboration; ability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.25 per hour
