Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Tax Staff to join our growing finance team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the company’s tax compliance and planning initiatives. You will work closely with senior tax professionals to prepare and review tax returns, analyze financial data, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. Duties
- Assist in preparing federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current laws and regulations.
- Conduct detailed analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, to support tax planning strategies.
- Support estate planning activities by reviewing wills, trusts, and estate law documents as needed.
- Perform account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation to verify accuracy of financial data used for tax filings.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other financial tools to record transactions accurately and maintain organized records.
- Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to tax positions or financial data.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial reports and interpret complex financial concepts for internal stakeholders.
- Support compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls related to financial reporting processes.
- Participate in mergers & acquisitions activities by analyzing financial data and supporting due diligence efforts.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all tax-related activities in accordance with regulatory standards.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, EA or working towards CPA certification is preferred.
- Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting roles with a focus on tax is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), tax accounting principles, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Familiarity with technical accounting concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Experience working with various accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret financial reports and identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
- Knowledge of estate planning, securities law, non-profit accounting, payroll processing, and investment analysis is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
